Wheels of Yesteryear: Touring with the Tin Lizzies

Production Outfitters has just completed the 30 minute program Wheels of Yesteryear: Touring with the Tin Lizzies.  This show was produced in partnership with KENW-TV, PBS as an original program.  Producer/Director Glenn Graham,  DP/Editor Zach Armstrong and Sound Allan Crawford brought us these photos of their timeless experience on the road with the Tin Lizzies.

Wheels of Yesteryear: Touring with the Tin Lizzies documents the Tin Lizzies on the “Llano Estacado Tour” of eastern New Mexico. The program offers a glimpse of the fun and passion these enthusiasts have for the Model T Ford. They offer the pub- lic a living history of sorts, sharing their knowledge of the automobile, allowing a firsthand view of the vehicles, and even wearing the clothing of the era. You’ll get a glimpse of the work days in the garage preparing the cars for tours, see some of the challenges they face with driving century old automobiles, and the endurance of each participant during the tour. You’ll also get to see some of the interesting places they visit along the way.

Wheels of Yesteryear airs:  Monday, October 7th at 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22nd at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 27th at 1:30 p.m.

On HD3-1, the program airs: Saturday, October 12th at 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 13th at 3:30 p.m.

Bye, Bye Breaking Bad! We’ll miss you!

AMC has wrapped the final and much anticipated episode of the groundbreaking series Breaking Bad here in Albuquerque and Production Outfitters has had the pleasure of being a part of it all.

It all started for us back in 2007, when a very funny guy named Dean Norris called to make a holiday spoof on a show he was working on called Breaking Bad.  We didn’t know anything abut the show yet, but we learned that Dean and the cast of Breaking Bad was fun to work with and up for anything.

We later met AMC’s Producers Mary Novak (Selitti) and Katherine Garrison and worked closely with them to shoot Behind the Scenes, Webisodes, and promos for each season.

All of us here at Production Outfitters want to give AMC, Vince Gilligan, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and all of the cast and crew of Breaking Bad a huge thanks for their generosity, friendliness and amazing work and professionalism.

Your talent and hard work has put Albuquerque, New Mexico on the map for the entire world.  Your presence here has left a lasting legacy on the lives of Albuquerque residents and especially to the crew at Production Outfitters.

You will be missed.  We can’t wait to screen the grand finale with the rest of the world!

Virtual Studio

Production Outfitters celebrates the inauguration of our virtual studio with the completion of a show for the New Mexico Corrections Department.  The Department's goal was to utilize this cutting edge technology to produce a video that was able to convey a sensitive message, while maintaining a high production value on an affordable budget.  The video will be distributed to all corrections facilities statewide. This fully equipped, HD studio offers the Newtek Tricaster TCXD300 Video Switcher available for rent by itself or with a crew.  Use it for Live Web Streaming, Virtual Sets, Graphics, Slo-Mo and Instant Replay in 1080, 720 or Standard Definition.

Sound Devices 744T and Denecke TS-C Smart Slate

The 744T is a powerful four-track file-based digital audio recorder. The super-compact 744T records and plays back audio to and from its internal hard drive, Compact Flash cards, and external FireWire drives, making field recording simple and fast. It writes and reads uncompressed PCM audio at 16 or 24 bits with sample rates between 32 kHz and 192 kHz. Compressed (MP3) audio recording and playback from 64 kb/s to 320 kb/s is also supported. The time code implementation makes the 744T ready for any recording job—from over-the-shoulder to cart-based production.

The Denecke TS-C is a compact full featured smart slate, capable of reading, generating and displaying SMPTE/EBU time code. Its new compact size makes the TS-C ideal for documentary work, insert shots, or anywhere a big slate is too cumbersome. The TS-C jams to all standard frame rates, including 23.976 for HD. The TS-C reads and displays off speed time code used in special situations such as music video playback. The time code reader mode works with both ascending and descending time code.  The TS-C is the first Denecke product to support Aaton serial communication! The precision TCXO combined with a 16 BIT microprocessor ensure extremely low drift and high accuracy. The standard EL backlit face plate is helpful in low light situations. The 744T recorder and TS-C smart slate are available for rental together with our sound package or á la carte.

Sony PMW-EX3 Now Available!

For affordable non-linear professional high definition acquisition Production Outfitters
now offers the Sony PMW-EX3.  A high definition camcorder capable of a variety of frame
rates and resolutions using Sony’s new XDCAM-EX intraframe codec. A “big-brother” to the
PMW-EX1, the PMW-EX3 ups the ante by providing an interchangeable lens mount. The mount
allows the use of our optional adapter to put a variety of professional lenses on the
camera, including 1/2″ and 2/3″ bayonet mounts.

Enhancing both usability and workflow efficiency, the PMW-EX3 has an extensive set of
features that push the boundaries of traditional handheld cameras, including a continuous
record time of up to 140 minutes! Whether shooting in 720p, 1080i, or 1080p modes, the
PMW-EX3 has it all covered. Its bevy of output settings lets users take advantage of fast
and slow motion, as well as popular frame rates such as the “film-like” 24p mode. We also
carry the RM-B150 remote control units for control of both this camera our F800 and other
popular Sony cameras.
